Meet Our Staff

Bro. Mark Mayfield, Senior Pastor

Brother Mark Mayfield has served as Senior Pastor at Leighton Baptist Church since February 2009.  He holds degrees from Louisiana Baptist University (B.A.) and Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary (Master of Religion).  A native of Sheffield, Alabama, Brother Mark is married to his high school sweetheart, Cindy.  They are blessed with two children, daughter Jessica (Brennan) Miles and son Preston (Anna) Mayfield.  They are proud grandparents to grandson Owen Luke and granddaughter Brynnlee Kate Miles and Palmer Mayfield.

Brother Mark is a gifted and faithful teacher whose messages combine sound, Biblical preaching and practical application.  His congregation is encouraged to help people become devoted followers of Christ.

Brother Mark and his family answered the call to missions in 2004 when they moved to Honduras with Baptist Medical and Dental Missions International to serve the people of Latin America as the missionary in charge of the Thomas Herrington Bible Institute  It is at this Institute that Christian men were trained in the Lord’s call to become pastors.  While serving in Honduras, Mark and his family also helped with medical and dental teams, ladies retreats, and a feeding program called “Feed the Shepherds ” which provided food for the pastors’ families who ministered in the 87 churches associated with BMDMI.

Committed to missions and a ministry, Brother Mark has led LBC to increase financial support of missions and missionaries around the world and serve the community, the state, the United States and the world through special projects.

Beloved for his caring of his congregation and his sincerity, Brother Mark claims the truth of Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.  The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
